Selected finalist in the 2008 Adobe Design Achievement Awards
This data visualization piece uncovers information typically buried in statistical databases restricted to research-savvy individuals. It expresses the reality of deforestation by loss of hectares and geographic location. It allows the user to compare the rates of deforestation and carbon emissions in order to explore the connection between the two data sets. Presented at New York University’s 2007 ITP Winter Show in both a projected flash piece and large format poster series. A large number of viewers were able to see the visulization and learn about the issue of deforestation in an accessible visual form.
