Name Aislinn DeweyAbout Download resumé at: www.activedesigns.org/pdfs/resume.pdf From product design to screen-based interaction, I am passionate about incorporating and translating people-expressed needs in the design process. Through observation, ethnography, persona and scenario development to user testing of rapid prototypes, I strive to implement innovative solutions that meaningfully impact peoples lives. My major of multimedia studies with a concentration in graphic design from Northeastern University in Boston, MA allowed me to explore a range of mediums to express content of interest to me. During my time at Northeastern, I studied abroad at Studio Art Centers International (S.A.C.I.) in Florence, Italy. The opportunity exposed me to new media artists and design approaches. As part of the co-op program at Northeastern, which places students with a local employer in their field, I gained professional experience in multimedia and graphic design. Following graduation from Northeastern, I worked briefly at the Boston design firm, Sametz Blackstone Associates before attending graduate school at New York University. Sametz’s range of corporate and non-profit clients from the education, arts and entertainment sectors provided a creative atmosphere to learn and develop my design style and production skills. As a graduate student at New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) I acquired a technical foundation with programming and physical computing in which I had little or no previous experience. Additionally, I was in an environment that significantly supported my interests of incorporating social action into my works. Multimedia and design professionals came through our floor frequently, allowing me to absorb current trends, research, design issues and emerging technologies from those actively working on them. I am continuing to expand into different domains with my current employer IDEO Chicago so that I can learn from people, observe problems and create solutions that positively impact end users. |
